How I got involved?

I got involved with frisbee after a coworker introduced me to it. I had never played before and didn’t know what to expect.
How long have you been playing?
I’ve been playing for about a year now.
Why Ultimate Frisbee and not another sport?
The main reason for me is that frisbee players are usually more friendly. I think it has a lot to do with there being no referees. Getting along with one another and avoiding confrontation is literally built into the game. Not only that, but it’s also a small investment to get started. All you need is a pair of cleats, or even just tennis shoes.
Spirit or competition?
I think spirit is more important, but of course there is a level of competition with any sport. I think the important thing is to balance the two: spirit 75% competition 25%. For example, I really enjoy playing without keeping score during practices, but I still want to score points and make good plays. It also makes it easier for you to recognize when the other team is doing well and praise them when your not worrying about winning.
Is it hard to find and play Ultimate Frisbee here?
It’s not hard to find it if you keep track of it on Facebook. Without Facebook or some form of social media it will be difficult for you to keep up with the group.
Is CM ult stricly about playing frisbee? is it a social community that goes beyond that? or is it both?
It’s not strictly about playing frisbee. It is definitely a social community on top of that. For instance, I think it’s an excellent choice for expats because frisbee is open to all abilities, genders, nationalities, and ages; the non-confrontational nature of the sport, no contact rule and the easy learning curve makes it an inviting option for anyone. It’s a great way to stay in shape and meet people in a diverse setting.
